Power disruptions force Transnet to delay offloading trains

Power disruptions have forced Transnet to delay offloading from trains for 10 hours, at the country’s main coal export terminal in Richards Bay.

Transnet says the outage resulted in only a 50-percent wagon capacity on Friday.

Eskom’s struggle to keep the lights on has affected major sectors like mining and manufacturing.

They’ve been dealt a double blow, as they also depend on Transnet’s rail infrastructure to transport and off-load goods.

Transnet hopes to catch up over the next few days.
