City of Cape Town firefighters are responding to a fire on the mountain slopes between Da Gama and Ocean View.
Crews from NCC, Table Mountain National Park, and a spotter plane have also been dispatched to help put out the blaze.
City Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said the fire was being fanned by strong winds and visibility for motorists was being impaired by all the smoke.
“The SA Weather Service has issued a warning of high fire danger, over the next 24 to 48 hours, as the high temperatures, dry conditions, and strong winds could result in the development of runaway fires or strengthen existing fires.”
