Acting Chairperson of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Professor Lourens van Staden says the board has drawn up terms of reference to investigate allegations of corruption.
He appeared before parliament’s Higher Education and Science and Innovation committee to discuss various issues concerning the scheme.
Van Staden is acting in the position, after the chairperson of the NSFAS board, Ernest Khosa took a leave of absence last month.
This was after the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse made allegations of kickbacks and implicated Khosa, Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande and the SACP. Van Staden says attorneys have been approached to assist with the investigation.
