Nota speaks on wanting to get married to a v!rgin after divorce from Berita

Controversial artists manager Nota, whose real name is Nhlamulo Baloyi, has announced his divorce from Gugulethu “Berita” Khumalo is final.

Nota shared with the publication he feels liberated now that proceedings are over.

The Joburg-based entrepreneur celebrated the end of his marriage on Wednesday, 19 June, after attending court to finalise the divorce, which he described as “a necessary step for both parties”.

Nota revealed that the divorce process is often financially crippling for a lot of men, but he was fortunate to have friends who are divorce lawyers to guide him through the process.

The couple parted ways in 2022, following a turbulent year of marriage that saw them airing their grievances publicly on social media platforms. Nota had paid lobola for Berita in July 2020.

Asked if he ever thought of getting married again, the musician said: “Of course, but to a virgin next time. There are many eligible maidens and the reed dance is just a few months away.”

Nota advised young couples to ensure mutual love and choose partners from stable, loving homes, cautioning against “rescuing anyone”. He also said marrying down a class is always risky.

“Make sure she comes from a secure loving home. Don’t try to rescue anyone.”

He said his focus now is on advocating for better lives for his countrymen and continuing to serve as a role model for young black boys.

When the SunTeam approached Berita for comment, she said she preferred to remain silent on the matter.

“I’m sorry there’s nothing I can share regarding this matter right now. With due respect, I don’t want to say a word.

“If it happens for me to comment it would be on my social media platforms. I would lie if I said I have a comment on this,” she said.
