No end to taxi violence as 4 people get shot in separate incidents. The first incident happened in Meadowlands zone 7 in Soweto, where a taxi driver (27) was shot.

On Tuesday alone, four people were shot in separate incidents. The driver, who lived at Dube Hostel, was driving along Maseru Road at about 8pm when he stopped to drop off a passenger.

A BMW stopped in front of the taxi and two men got out and shot at the driver’s side. Sergeant Octavia Thebe said: “The driver was shot in the head. The passenger was shot on the left-hand middle finger.”

Cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated.

One man shot him in the mouth. The taxi owner grabbed the gun and shot the suspect, who died. His friends escaped. An inquest docket and attempted murder case were opened.
