It’s back and bigger than ever… Eskom’s annoying power outages, aka ‘load shedding’, has made a spectacular return to South Africa
Everyday life has been turned upside down this week in a series of grand malfunctions which have left the country with limited power. Needless to say, the situation is serious and the current bout of power cuts has drawn reactions from everyone in the country – including our biggest celebrities.
When even the elite and famous are suffering from load shedding then you know that the situation is dire in Mzansi.
Here’s what our local celebs have to say about Eskom and the power cuts…
Khanya Mkangisa
Has a GIF ever described so many people so accurately?
Khanya was all of us with this reaction the moment that we found out that load shedding had returned.

Thula Sindi
The celebrity designer made an interesting discovery – he noticed that not all areas are load shedding equally.

The fashionista revealed that some of Johannesburg’s most privileged suburbs seem to be suffering lighter spells of power outages.
Euphonik
Euphonik paused the jokes and took a serious tone as he urged voters to judge the political forces in power by this (the state of chaos caused by load shedding) rather than any promises made during special addresses.

Minnie Dlamini
If you live in Johannesburg, then you will understand Minnie’s frustration.

It’s been a wet and rainy week for Jo’burgers – which is already inconvenient enough – but navigating these conditions without electricity has led to mass traffic jams. Not even Minnie is exempt from these!
Siv Ngesi
It’s not all bad though. If you, like Siv Ngesi, live close enough to the parliament buildings then perhaps you haven’t been hit by load shedding just yet!

Mantsoe Pout
947 presenter, Mantsoe Pout found a way to have fun during the dark times (no pun intended).

She’s begun creating entertaining load shedding countdowns but Eskom’s reliability is so questionable that even the timing of their scheduled outages has been off.
