The Congress of the People says it will take legal action against the former mayor of Tshwane Dr Murunwa Makwarela.
The party says Makwarela has brought the party into disrepute.
Makwarela resigned as Tshwane mayor on Friday in disgrace after it emerged he’d submitted a fake letter to the city manager declaring he was a rehabilitated insolvent.
Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem says they’re disappointed at the coalition government for not raising the issue earlier.
