Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi to lead efforts to understand fears around NHI

Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi has vowed to lead workshops across the country in an attempt to understand the opposition against the National Health Insurance (NHI). Despite having been signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa, the NHI is facing stiff opposition.

Its detractors say it is going to be costly with the figure of over R1.3 trillion being thrown around. Currently, the matter has also been dragged to courts.

Addressing the media from the sidelines of the ANC NEC Lekgotla in Boksburg East of Johannesburg, Motsoaledi says they want to understand what people fear about the NHI’s implementation.
