Some MK Party supporters accuse IEC of bias in Jacob Zuma case

Some uMkhonto weSizwe supporters say that the squabbles in the party’s national leadership have not reflected well on the running of the organization.

MK party leader Jacob Zuma is in an ongoing feud with expelled co-founder Jabulani Khumalo over who is the rightful owner of the party.

Khumalo was expelled by the party last month along with four other members for allegedly colluding with the African National Congress (ANC).

Speaking outside the Constitutional Court on Friday, where the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is squaring off against Zuma over his uMkhonto weSizwe candidacy, MK party supporter, Nwabisa Mgojo said that this does not help the party especially so close to the elections.

“It reflected very bad for us, more especially ground forces they don’t understand what is happening. What he (Khumalo) has done has disappointed many of us, as a result some people were questioning this MK thing, they assume that maybe we are of ANC. I want to be clear in that, we are not working for the ANC.”

Bongani Sibaya an MK supporter from Katlehong said that he trusts Zuma’s decision-making.

“It’s very unfortunate that for people like us on the ground we get affected by this. But I’m hoping the national team will sort its differences and come and inform us on a way forward.”
