Miley Cyrus is promoting equal healthcare for all as part of Global Citizen’s latest COVID-19 relief campaign.
The singer has filmed a powerful video message as part of the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future, which will focus on the development of tests, treatments, and vaccines amid the global pandemic.
“We now have the opportunity to take a stand for equality and health for all,” Cyrus says in the clip.
“Because this pandemic has affected our entire world, we need to ensure that everyone everywhere has the solutions for this pandemic: testing, treatments, and a vaccine. Together, people around the globe, across ages, borders, and identities, are calling on governments, businesses, and philanthropists to step up their funding for these critical solutions.”
The new venture was launched by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ahead of the international pledging summit on June 27, 2020. Other stars participating in the campaign include Adam Lambert, Shakira, Chris Rock, Chloe x Halle, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Dionne Warwick, Hugh Jackman, Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, Justin Bieber, and Rachel Brosnahan.
In Other News – MPs demand consultation over Covid-19 regulations
Parliamentarians are demanding to be consulted whenever the regulations on Covid-19 are being amended. This was the word made by MPs to Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma at the virtual meeting of the Cogta portfolio committee on Friday night. This happened hours after another set of newly-amended regulations signed by Dlamini Zuma were published in the government gazette.
The committee did not hide its displeasure at being left out when the public was asked to comment. Committee chairperson Faith Muthambi said it was regrettable there was no such opportunity for them in the latest regulations. continue reading
