Description: An excellent opportunity exists in Cape Town for a Mechanical Draughtsman at a well-established Mechanical Engineering Firm specializing in the Marine Industry. This establishment is seeking to permanently employ a dynamic go-getter to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

Responsibility: Model and prepare drawings for the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs. Draughting of detailed manufactured 3D models & drawings within the marine industry, Assist Mechanical Engineers in design projects such as hydraulic lifting, winches and net handling equipment.

Create technical drawings and managing drawing files Proficient with measuring tools – vernier and micrometer Create thorough detail and assembly drawings and assembly instructions from engineers’ layouts. Insure draughting style consistency between drawings as per company draughting standards.

Able to work independently with designers and engineers on various projects, producing detailed and assembly drawings for manufacturing or fabrication. Attend design reviews and related project meetings

Qualifications & Skills:

Matric
ND / B.Tech Mechanical Engineering / Certificate
Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience within the Marine Industry
Computer Literacy: AutoCad, Autodesk Inventor & Solidworks
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines
High level of attention to detail
