A non-racial South Africa starts in the classroom, says MEC Lesufi

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has pledged his commitment to ridding classrooms of racial divide.

Lesufi was addressing parents from the Hoërskool Jan Viljoen in Randfontein on Sunday.

This follows serious tensions after racism claims at the school.

“What we have and what we are committing ourselves and what we are going to do, whether other people like it or not, we are determined to build a non-racial South Africa,” he said.

Meanwhile, a teacher at the school has been suspended following s.e.xual harassment claims.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the provincial department supports the decision by the school’s Governing Body to suspend the teacher implicated.
