MEC Matome Chiloane assures parents all learners will be placed in Gauteng

Gauteng MEC for Education Matome Chiloane has assured parents that all their children will be placed in schools close to their home address by the 16th of this month.

In the past, Gauteng parents expressed frustration and unhappiness over placement challenges, as the first term would start without securing spaces or children being placed in schools far from their homes.

The Gauteng Education Department has extended the deadline for the 2025 online admissions applications to the 14th of August.

Chiloane says this is because the system was down for some time but promised parents that their children would get school placements.

“There’s no child who will not get an offer to a school and we will not place your child in an unreasonable area or far from you. We will always consider your home address and the school nearest and if schools are far, we’ll provide scholar transport. We’ll try our best to support them to ensure their child gets to school. With that said, good luck to parents from the 16th, we will be placing the children and we assure them that all your kids will placed in our schools.
