A protest has broken out in the Johannesburg CBD.
Inner city residents are complaining refuse removal has been intermittent for several weeks now.
They barricaded Claim and Twist Streets with burning tyres and waste.
Demonstrators say they are being exposed to unsanitary conditions and fear they’ll become ill.
The protesters collected rubbish around the inner city and dumped it outside Mayor Herman Mashaba’s office.

They want Mashaba to take action.
Johannesburg Metro Police are monitoring the situation.
