Students and management at Rhodes University are marching to Settlers Monument on the campus on Tuesday.
This is to honour Khensani Maseko. It’s believed she committed suicide on Friday after battling with depression.
The third-year BA student had reported that she was r@ped in May.
The university has issued a notice to suspend the 23-year-old alleged r@pist.
The marchers are also protesting gender violence and the r@pe culture they say persists at the university.
On Monday, Vice-Chancellor Dr Sizwe Mabizela lowered the university flag in commemoration of Maseko. The flag will fly at half-mast until her funeral

As the Rhodes University community, we are deeply saddened by Khensani’s passing,” Mabizela said.
“We have been robbed of an amazing young woman who was destined to make a significant impact on our society and beyond.”
