Man Arrested for Killing Girlfriend in Lagos Hotel Incident

LAGOS, Man Arrested – A disturbing incident has rocked the Ayobo area of Lagos State, as a man arrested for killing his girlfriend is now in police custody following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s lifeless body in a hotel room.

The suspect, identified as Amos Daniel, was arrested after allegedly murdering a young woman named Endurance, believed to be his girlfriend, in a hotel located in the Ayobo district. The chilling event reportedly occurred on Thursday evening and has sparked outrage across the community and social media.

According to eyewitnesses, Daniel checked into the hotel around 5:00 p.m. with two male companions. A female—later confirmed to be the deceased—joined them not long after. All seemed calm until around 10:00 p.m., when strange noises were heard coming from the room the group had rented.

One of the hotel guests, who gave his name only as Adio, recounted the frightening moments to reporters on Saturday:

Police Investigate Ritual Motive After Man Arrested for Killing Girlfriend in Ayobo

“I checked into the hotel on Wednesday. That Thursday night, I started hearing strange, disturbing sounds coming from the next room. Someone else also noticed and called the security guard. They knocked, but no one answered. They used the spare key to enter—and that’s when we saw the woman lying in a pool of blood.”

Hotel staff quickly raised the alarm after discovering the body. As chaos broke out within the premises, it became clear that Daniel and his two friends had attempted to flee the scene.

While two of the three men reportedly managed to escape, Daniel was not so lucky. A hotel staff member, who requested anonymity, revealed how the suspect was caught while trying to slip out unnoticed.

“When we realized only one of them might still be on the premises, we began searching. That’s when we saw Amos Daniel sneaking toward the hotel gate. He was caught and held down before the police were called.”

During the scuffle, Daniel was reportedly beaten by some individuals on the premises. It was during this time that he allegedly confessed to conspiring with his two friends to murder the woman for ritual purposes.

“Man Arrested said it was a planned ritual killing, and that the others had helped him set it up,” the hotel worker added.

Police investigations confirmed the horrific nature of the crime. According to a statement from the Ayobo Police Division, the hotel manager had filed a report around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, following the previous night’s incident.

Deputy officers reported that when they arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. The suspect was already in custody, and during the arrest, a dagger allegedly used in the crime was recovered from Man Arrested.

Police disclosed that the victim had sustained deep injuries to her stomach, head, and ribs—believed to be inflicted by a sharp object.

“A team of detectives recovered the murder weapon and other suspicious items from the premises and from the suspect’s belongings,” an official report stated.

Among the recovered items were a UTC axe, cutlass, machete, jack knives, a pair of scissors, a laptop, jungle boots, and other objects suggestive of ritualistic activity. The victim’s body has been moved to the mortuary at Mainland General Hospital in Yaba, where it will undergo autopsy.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the suspect, along with the evidence, has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for further investigation.

The tragic case comes just months after a similar incident was reported in February, when the Lagos State Police arrested 23-year-old Gbolahan Adebayo for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death in Ijedodo, Alimosho Local Government Area.

Man Arrested- In that case, neighbors reported hearing the woman scream for help around midnight. She was later found unresponsive, and Adebayo was arrested the next morning.

The latest case involving a man arrested for killing his girlfriend has reignited public concern over the growing number of gender-based killings and ritual-motivated crimes in Nigeria. Advocates are calling for swift justice, stricter hotel security protocols, and intensified police crackdowns on ritual activity.

Man Arrested- As investigations continue, authorities have assured the public that all suspects involved in the murder will be pursued and brought to justice. The identity of Daniel’s two accomplices remains unknown, but law enforcement is actively working to track them down.
