Mampintsha isn’t the most popular person in Mzansi right now and that is largely because of a video that surfaced at the beginning of March in which he was seen abusing his on-and-off girlfriend, Babes Wodumo. Since then, the nation has joined forces in an attempt to cancel the troublesome musician — i.e. boycott his music and ensure that he is given no publicity until he faces the might of the law.
Stop what you’re doing right now and take a moment to sympathise with West-Ink label head and musician, Mampintsha. The former Big Nuz star is hurting right now and it’s all because of you. Yes, you with your wokeness and your activism and your desire to stand up for victims of abuse, are causing him a great deal of pain.
Although Babes Wodumo’s recent show, where she performed his new song, has confused things, many are still determined to boycott Mampintsha and teach the abuse-accused musician a lesson. And it’s hurting him guys.
The “Ikhon’ ingane la endlini” hitmaker has spoken out about how attempts to boycott his music have affected him emotionally. Speaking on his behalf, his manager, Dogg DBN said to Tshisa Live:
“Mampintsha is hurt about the whole thing it’s just that he isn’t allowed to comment to the media or public about this,”
Dogg also wants Mampintsha to be treated fairly until such a time as he’s found guilty in a court of law. He added:
“I just want things to be done fairly. Mampintsha must be treated like all others who make mistakes. Plus I am his manager I have to look out for him as a colleague, friend, and manager.”
You might have read a story we reported this week which claimed that Dogg DBN is planning on suing iTunes and Apple Music for removing Mampintsha’s music without their consent.
It remains to be seen if Mampintsha will face serious punishment for his actions or if Babes Wodumo will drop the charges she opened against him in March. Following their altercation, Mampintsha was arrested and released on R2,000 bail.
We’re still not sure how this story will end — but as it stands, the situation is seriously hurting Mampintsha and we should all take a moment to consider if his pain is worth our efforts.
