City Power suffers R160 million in damages following M1 highway fire

City Power CEO Tshifularo Mashava says the entity needs the security cluster’s help to curb the high rates of vandalism on its infrastructure.

Large parts of the Joburg CBD have been left without power following an underground fire on the M1 highway owing to cable theft last week.

Mashava has confirmed that she has written to the National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola asking for assistance.

He said they’ve suffered more than R160 million worth of damages to their infrastructure this year alone.
