R2.4 million spent on Lulekani water project but taps still run dry

After residents of Lulekani in Limpopo took to the streets last year over a lack of water supply, the Mopani District Municipality decided to provide a short-term solution.

The project came at a cost of R2.4 million and included 13 JoJo tanks, concrete steel to hold up the tanks, a pump, and pipework.

However, the taps of residents in the area still run dry.

Community members say every official they seek answers from has no solutions or answers.

The municipality conceded to eNCA that it’s a failed project, but doesn’t believe it was a waste of taxpayers money.
