Job Description

This is a critical role in the Retail Marketing department, with loyalty being a core pillar of the overall Retail growth strategy. To this end the strategic direction for loyalty for Shell South Africa has recently been endorsed by the Global and Local teams.

The successful candidate will be tasked with further developing and implementing the loyalty strategy for Shell South Africa leveraging the Shell Global Loyalty Team as well as local partners.

Further to this, the role is also responsible for ensuring that the consumer payment experience at Shell service stations is competitive, industry leading and able to meet the evolving needs of SA consumers.

The role will work closely with other marketing functions, Convenience Retail, Commercial Fleet, Sales and Operations as well as Retail Finance, with a strong external partner focus.

Accountability and responsibilities
Develop, nurture and manage strategic partners
Use market intelligence data to find innovative ways for customer engagement.
Work collaboratively to develop, define, launch and implement the SA Loyalty Strategy
Lead business case development and performance analysis where required
Develop and implement a customer communications strategy and deliver on engaging brand building activities
Manage the day to day relationships with Agency and strategic partners
Manage the transaction Acquiring relationship with Shell Bank partners responsible of Shell payment infrastructure
Manage Payment relationships with other payments partners
Enhance the Payments Customer Value Proposition by introducing new technologies such as mobile payments, contactless, prepaid etc. as they evolve.
Engage and align with the global payments team as well as the global loyalty team
Drive and lead retail agenda within the Payments and Loyalty space and help build the loyalty and general marketing competence in the team
Managing key external relationships and complex set of internal stakeholders.
Develop and implement a differentiated loyalty Customer Value Propsotion that is attractive and creates value for all partners involved as well as Shell and our customers.
Manage the implementation of the loyalty project, applying project management principles.
Manage implementation and improvement across multiple partners with varying degrees of cost and complexity (often with timelines and dependencies dependent on IT / global prioritisation / 3rd party timelines etc).
Finding win-win solutions with 3rd party partners and service providers requires good organisation, creativity and excellent relationship / negotiation skills
Managing the relationship with partners and other service providers to ensure that the payments infrastructure on our forecourts meets the evolving needs of our customers and the business

Requirements

University marketing degree and MBA preferable
Minimum 5 years’ experience in loyalty management
Specialist in Loyalty Programmes, Operations and CRM
Strong commercial acumen and project management skills are required- preferably in a Retail context.
Strong Stakeholder collaboration skills.
Proven competence in negotiation and dealing with external partners
Marketing professionalism in the areas of loyalty and CRM.
Interpreting data and generating customer insights
Managing and developing IT systems and data feeds and links
Track record of successfully delivering high impact projects
Managing third parties and deliver performance improvements
Passionate about customer experience and able to overcome barriers to deliver a better experience
Integrity, Resilient nature, Proactive management of senior stakeholders
Fluency in English

The role will allow the successful candidate to influence strategy, whilst affording great exposure to external partners across an array of industries and has a strong emphasis on technology and innovation.
