The iSithembiso actress has been nominated for two categories for Best Newcomer Actress on TV and Best Supporting Actress on TV for the Simon “Mabhunu” Sabela Film & TV Awards which are based in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

the actress expressed great excitement as this is her first nomination ever.
“This is my first time getting nominated for an award in acting. This year marks the second year of me acting on Isibaya, it really makes me happy to know that I’m receiving love from where I come from even though I in another province.”
What’s interesting about the KZN native is that she’s never acted before or even studied for the craft and that is why she’s so humbled and thankful for this nomination and thanks God for the opportunity given to her.
Even though Deka has never studied acting, she believes it’s a talent that runs in the family as her sister – Nelisa Mchunu is also an actress and is known for her role on Uzalo.
Nelisa plays the role of Fikile on Uzalo.
The Simon “Mabhunu” Sabela Film & TV Awards will be hosted at the Playhouse in July.
