Celebrity chef Les Da Chef struggling to beat Covid-19

Celebrity chef and author Les Da Chef has shared his struggles about Covid-19 while also being diabetic.

On Wednesday, Les tweeted that he had been fighting Covid-19 for three days, and was doing well.

However, the chef said he was worried and scared about how expensive it was to take care of his bills, slamming the government for not making things easy for young people with comorbidities.

Real name Lesego Semenya, he tweeted: “Day three of fighting Covid-19 while living with a comorbidity. Thank you for all the support, kind words and mountains of medical advice. I’m sticking with the medication given and recommended to me by my Dr and pharmacist. So far I’m doing well,” he wrote.

He explained how he had been taking care of himself on a daily basis, and working towards getting better.

“I test my blood oxygen regularly throughout the day with an oximeter, test my blood sugar about five times a day, spend as much time in the sun with my dogs and moving about in my garden when I can. I write and create content to keep my mind busy. Even making videos. I’ll be okay,” he wrote.

“One thing that’s scary for me though, is just how expensive it is to fight this thing with the right medication. I’m fighting it from a privileged vantage point. I can’t imagine someone with a comorbidity like mine in a low-income home having access to these things,” he continued.

Les then said the government let young people with comorbidities down by not vaccinating them.

“Government really let us ‘non-old’ people with comorbidities down when it changed the strategy on vaccines without even trying to find a workable solution. And that’s that on that,” wrote Les.
