KZN police investigating triple murder of marked VIP protection car occupants

KwaZulu-Natal police have begun murder investigations after three people were shot and killed in a VIP protection marked car in Hibberdene, on the south coast.

Preliminary reports from police suggest the occupants had just left a local court when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen.

Police spokesperson Jay Naicker said the victims were also robbed of their firearms.

“The suspects opened fire on the vehicle, killing all three occupants instantly before fleeing the scene. It is believed that the deceased were also robbed of their firearms.”

He added that details surrounding the incident are still sketchy.

“The motive for the attack remains unclear at this time and detectives at Hibberdene are probing the triple murder.”
