King Misuzulu concerned about gun violence in KZN

AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has raised concerns over what he has called, escalating gun violence in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Zulu monarch was addressing the official opening of the provincial legislature in Pietermaritzburg. On Wednesday, Premier Thami Ntuli will deliver his inaugural State of the Province Address.

King Misuzulu’s concerns follows several shootouts between police and suspects. He is appealing to police to curb these violent crimes.

“As I stand here today many Amakhosi, Izinduna and community members are buried because of this gun violence. The critics point is that there are always instigators behind all these shooting. Due to the gun violence, many families are impoverished by this having lost bread winners. One question is asked all the time, why do we have crime?”

Meanwhile, the King Misuzulu also urged the government of provincial unity and members of legislature, to work tirelessly to improve the province’s economy.

“To my political leaders and members of this house, I congratulate all of you on your election. Those who elected you did so as they trust you. Remember now you are a member of this house you represent all of us. As the 7th KZN legislature you have a crucial role to play, five years is not a long time, I urge you to work hard and speedily.
