Itumeleng Khune was not included in the Kaizer Chiefs squad last night despite indications that he was fully fit ahead of the 2019/20 season restart.
Chiefs played to a 1-1 draw against Bidvest at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Amakhosi returning to football action unchanged between the sticks.
Daniel Akpeyi, who’s established himself as Amakhosi’s number one, featured for the full encounter, with Bruce Bvuma being named on the bench.
“He missed some training sessions for different reasons in terms of having a challenge, I don’t want to put too much in, we are not discussing any injuries, during the entire time we haven’t spoken about any injury. It is simple and easy, there were a number of training days where he couldn’t make it and good, you decide and today it was Daniel Akpeyi and Bruce and let’s move forward to the next game,” Middendorp explained.
Chiefs lock horns with Polokwane City this weekend and it remains to be seen whether Khune will make a return to the squad.
