President Ramaphosa institutes inquiry into Khehla Sitole’s conduct

President Cyril Ramaphosa has instituted an inquiry into National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole’s alleged misconduct and fitness to hold office.

Two weeks ago, Ramaphosa served Sitole with a notice of intention to suspend him.

He has since made representations to the President.

The matter arises from allegations that Sitole failed to assist the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

In January, a court ruled he and his deputies had “breached their duties” by not de-classifying and providing documents to IPID.

In March, another judge dismissed an application by Sitole for leave to appeal that finding.
