Veteran actor Dr. John Kani will be awarded the Sotigui of Honour at this year’s Sotigui Awards in Burkina Faso.
Congratulating John on Twitter, Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa tweeted on Wednesday: “Congratulations to legendary Actor & Playwright @JohnKani2, as he travels to Burkina Faso to attend the prestigious ceremony of the Sotigui Awards where he will be awarded the Sotigui of Honour for this tremendous contribution to the African creative industry. Sithi halala Baba! [sic]”

This is not the only award John Kani has won in recent days.
The star, who will voice the character of Rafiki in the live-action remake of The Lion King, also received the Ahmed Kathrada Excellence in Leadership Award for 2018, making the announcement on his Twitter page.
