Operation O Kae Molao set its sights on counterfeit goods in the Johannesburg CBD on Thursday morning.
Police seized goods, including cigarettes, valued at tens of thousands of rands.
With the operation still ongoing, Gauteng Police Commissioner Elias Mawela says this figure will increase.
“We have been monitoring these people. We can see that this market is growing,” he said.
“This team has done extremely well and this is one of the disruption operations that we’ll continue to do in the CBD. As you know, the Joburg Central is one of the biggest contributors of crime.”
