Jacob Zuma loses court case, to pay over R10 million

This means he will be personally liable for the R10 million in legal fees which he incurred challenging the remedial action called for by former.

Former president Jacob Zuma’s application for leave to appeal the personal costs order against him in the State Capture review case has been dismissed with costs in the High Court in Pretoria.

A full bench, led by Judge President Dunstan Mlambo, earlier ordered Zuma to pay the costs of his legal challenge to the remedial action called for by the former public protector. The court also made several damning findings against Zuma, who was still the president at the time. This included that he had acted recklessly when he launched the attack on the report.

The court’s decision is sure to be a blow to Zuma who is also facing a DA-led court challenge against the government’s decision to foot the bill for his legal fees.
