THE PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME IS TO OFFER GRADUATES (DIPLOMA/DEGREE) WITH NO RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE THE OPPORTUNITY TO OBTAIN PRACTICAL WORKPLACE EXPOSURE AND EXPERIENCE.

Duties and responsibilities:

Work in the front office and sell merchandise at KovsieGear.
Keep the shop tidy and shelves neat.
Work as a cashier at the point of sales and cash up daily.
Assist with deliveries to specific clients on campus.
Unpack and label new stock and do quality control of merchandise on delivery.
Perform general office administrative duties, including answering the telephone and taking messages in a professional manner.
Assist with stocktaking.
Assist with stock movement to the different stores.
Assist with the activities for marketing the KovsieGear shop.
Assist with public events e.g. Graduations and Open-days.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Assist with financial responsibilities at KovsieGear e.g. quotations and invoices.
Assist with accounting duties on Pastel and PeopleSoft required due to operational requirements.
Assist with systematic filing of all financial documentation in the office.
Attend self-development initiatives when the opportunity arises.
Demonstrate honesty in handling cash or finances.

Inherent requirements:

B.Com Accounting or B Accounting or B.Com with specialization in Marketing (on NQF level 7).

Required competencies:

Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
Basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently, as well as effectively with others.
Ability to work under pressure.
Problem-solving skills.
Analytical skills.
Time-management skills.

The following criteria apply to the selection of candidates:

Not currently participating in an existing learnership/internship programme.
Willing to sign a learnership/internship agreement with the UFS.
Candidate must be available for a period of one (1) year.
Postgraduate qualification will serve as a recommendation.

Recommendations

Valid driver’s licence (please attach a copy).
Basic accounting and numerical data transferring skills.

Assumption of duties:

01 August 2019.
