Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says the department is extending the use of Temporary Identity Certificates issued during the National State of Disaster.
Motsoaledi made this announcement at a media briefing on Friday.
“Anyone who has a temporary identity document must not worry, we are extending it until 31 October 2020,” he said.
Motsoaledi says his department has also learnt that over 600,000 pupils don’t have IDs.
Those who’ve never owned an ID card are being asked to apply.
