The Faircape Group owns and manages 6 retirement/lifestyle villages in the Western Cape (Tokai, Kirstenhof, Noordhoek, Somerset West, and Onrus).

An exciting opportunity for a Housekeeping Manager has become available. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the housekeeping service at the retirement villages (Bridgewater Manor, Heritage Manor & Onrus Manor) in the body corporates and healthcares.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Workforce Planning
Prepare workflows for the housekeeping teams
Determine work/targets that staff are required to achieve in a day/week/month and how many staff it will take to achieve this
Operational planning
Work Assignment & Rostering
Rostering and management of clockings
Ensure good communication of tasks required and objectives clearly outlined to all staff
Ensure annual leave and contingency planning to maintain adequate staffing levels
Housekeeping oversight
Ensure that the Housekeepers comply to service standards and monitor service levels
Provide feedback to management regarding outcomes/success/problems/recommendations
Ensure quality of service provision through up-to-date procedures, random audits, and correction
Leave
Oversee all leave requests
Leave requests are approved or declined with business requirements in mind to maintain adequate service levels
Personal Grooming
Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene, appearance & uniforms of staff are maintained for the team
Standard Operating Procedures
Ensure company and departmental standards; policies and procedures are adhered to
Establish and maintain SOP’s
Drive department performance against SOP’s, including, providing support and guidance to the team to achieve daily/monthly/ weekly objectives
Hold team accountable for achievement of SOP’s
Training
On the job training. All staff are trained on a regular basis to maintain standards
Conduct quarterly training needs analysis
Assist HR with HWSETA reporting
Policies and procedures
Performance Management
Conduct performance appraisals with staff
Industrial Relations
Ensure all employees adhere to rules & regulations and the Code of Conduct of the company, at all times
All disciplinary procedure is carried out in accordance with HR
IR policies, practice & procedures adhered to and disciplinary action carried out where required
Complaints
Resolve complaints, queries and concerns to conclusion
Administration
Daily, weekly and monthly report to management
Report on staff, training results and service delivery
Recruitment & Selection
Assist HR with the selection of competent staff
Stock
Conduct weekly stock take of all consumables.
conduct monthly stock take of all assets
Ensure stock is always kept on a par – level
Health & Safety
Ensure department attends training and have full understanding of Emergency procedures
Ensure Health & Safety policy is adhered to by all staff members
Ensure department operates effectively according to Health & Safety regulation
Ensure secure environment is provided for team and residents/patients by practicing and promoting a security-conscious approach in conjunction with Maintenance
Working Hours: Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 13h00.

Requirements:

Qualification:

Senior Certificate
Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous

Experience and Knowledge:

3 years proven similar experience
Proven experience in management of Housekeeping staff
Experience in training of staff
Knowledge of excellent customer service principles

Skills and Attributes:

Computer literate
Skilled in staff management
solid knowledge of industry practices and current trends,
Ability to manage staff in various locations
Good organizational skills,
Ability to work under pressure
Professional communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as within a team

Specific Requirements:

Own reliable transport
Clear health record
No criminal record
Solid and positive references. Written references preferable.

Benefits:
Salary on offer from R18,000 CTC per month.
