Home Affairs extends operating hours until election day

Home Affairs is set to operate until 7pm on Monday evening to accommodate voters who require new identity documents.

This will allow individuals who need to apply for and collect temporary identity documents from the department, to do so.

The special vote window has officially opened.

The National Joint Operational and Intelligent Structure (NATJOINTS) revealed this during a media briefing on Sunday, as it outlined its security plans for the elections.

“You are also reminded that the Department of Home Affairs will open until 19H00 on Monday and Tuesday and 21H00 on Wednesday,” said the chairperson of NATJOINTS, Tebello Mosikili.

She said Home Affairs was just one of many departments fully equipped and ready for the elections.

Mosikili also reiterated the police’s readiness to make sure the election goes ahead without any issues.

“It is more boots on the ground, our law enforcement agencies are out there.”
