High Court suspends Public Protector’s remedial actions against Gordhan

Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan, has won his urgent application to suspend Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s remedial actions in the so called SARS rogue unit. The North Gauteng High Court has ruled that Mkhwebane pay the costs in the matter.

The minister lodged an urgent application to suspend and interdict the remedial orders by the Public Protector, citing ‘improper motives’ on her part.

Mkhwebane found the minister broke the law when he established the intelligence unit at the revenue service. She’s directed President Cyril Ramaphosa to take disciplinary action against Gordhan.
