Severe thunderstorms & heavy rain expected in parts of FS and North West on Tuesday

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, large amounts of small hail, damaging wind, and excessive lightning, over the
western parts of North West and the extreme north-western parts of the Free State on Tuesday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are also expected over Khai-Ma Local Municipality of the Northern Cape as well as Oudtshoorn and Laingsburg Local Municipalities of the Western Cape.

Tuesday’s weather forecast

Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm weather with isolated showers and thundershowers. The expected UVB sunburn index: Very High.

Mpumalanga: Hot in the Lowveld, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers. Drizzle and fog patches can be expected in places along the escarpment in the morning.

Limpopo: Morning drizzle and fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south-west.

North West: Cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the west.
