Two people were killed on Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on the N1 Highway near the Kroonvaal Plaza in Kroonstad.
Free State Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa said the collision happened around 6am.
It was a head-on collision involving two light motor vehicles between the Engen Kroonvaal and Kroonvaal Plaza Two people were declared dead on the scene and two others were injured,” said Towa.
Debris from both vehicles was found spread across the entire scene.

Earlier, the road on N1 road between Engen and Kroonvaal and the Kroonvaal Plaza was closed.
Towa, however, added that traffic was being regulated.
At least 800 people have been killed across the country so far during the festive period.
