EURO 2020 Full time: England 0-0 Scotland

England frustrated by Scotland after playing a goalless draw. England and Scotland have played out a goalless draw in their highly-anticipated Euro 2020 encounter at Wembley. Nothing could separate England and Scotland as the two fierce rivals battled to a draw in a passionate Euro 2020 group encounter at a wet Wembley.

England had the best chances but John Stones’ header against the post from a corner was the closest to a goal. Stephen O’Donnell saw a low shot saved for Scotland, who have now claimed their first point of the competition.

England, for whom Mason Mount poked a shot wide, are on four points and well placed to seal a spot in the last 16. It will go down to the last round of games in Group D, with England level on points with the Czech Republic, who drew 1-1 with Croatia earlier on Friday.

Gareth Southgate’s side face the Czechs at Wembley on Tuesday, with Scotland taking on Croatia – who have one point – at Hampden Park the same day. Steve Clarke’s side frustrated the hosts, who faded badly after a bright start, and had the better chances in the second half.

Lyndon Dykes’ shot was cleared off the line by Reece James before Che Adams flashed wide at the far post. Gareth Southgate brought on Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford for Phil Foden and Harry Kane, who had struggled to have any impact on the game.

In the first half, John Stones hit the post with a header from an 11th-minute corner and Mason Mount fired wide from Raheem Sterling’s pass. Scotland came back into the game, with Stephen O’Donnell drawing a fine save from Jordan Pickford with his volley from an angle as the first half ended level.

England could not muster a clear in the second half and missed the opportunity to rubber-stamp their progress from Group D. Southgate’s side face Czech Republic in their final game, while Scotland face Croatia at Hampden Park.
