The Communications Office of the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) is seeking a vibrant, creative,
and energetic individual to work in an environment that is dynamic, fast-paced and task driven. The Graphic Designer is
responsible for conceptualizing and implementing design solutions that meet presentation strategies from concept to completion.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
A Diploma / Degree in Visual Communications with work experience within the Communications / Graphic
Design fields.
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
The applicant should have:
excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
familiarity with HTML and motion graphics
knowledge of media production, communication techniques, and methods
excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate visually, verbally and in writing at the highest level
excellent command of the English language
strong conceptual skills, high-level sense of design, layout, and typography
The applicant should be able to:
adapt and learn quickly
adjust to developing trends and be able to conceptualize original ideas
apply style guides creatively
offer a variety of design solutions
manage a project from brief to final artwork with minimal supervision
work well as a team player and be open to constructive feedback
effectively manage time and work on multiple projects and deadlines

be empathetic and professional when dealing with parents, students, and faculty
work independently
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
Creating designs, concepts, and layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts by AISJ standards and adopted branding.
Mocking up, pasting and assembling final layouts for printing.
Assisting in the development of new campaigns, brainstorming, and execution.
Preparing notes and illustrations for assembly and preparation of final layouts for printing.
Liaising with external printers for printing jobs.
Keeping up to date technically and apply new knowledge to the position.
Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
Developing goals to prioritize, organize and accomplish work requirements.
Being responsible for daily event updates on all communications platforms when needed, E.g., Website, Social Media
Photography of events
Any other duties that may be assigned by the Communications Manager or the School Director.
