Collective effort needed at Glebelands

It’s been well over five years since the Public Protector released a damning report on the Glebelands hostel.

On Friday, acting Public Protector Kholeka Gcaleka addressed the community and did a walkabout.

She’s given an update on the implementation of key suggestions of the 2017 report.

Members of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature who joined the walkabout say various sectors of the community need to work together to achieve change and improvement.

Community leaders told the Office of the Public Protector and the KZN legislature that they are planning to hold imbizos to address the community’s behaviour and keep the hostels clean.
