A dynamic company based in the East Rand is looking for an Assistant General Manager (Logistics)
Duties:
Provide warehouse supply chain expertise within the Logistics division of the company
The key focus is to plan, implement and control the efficient (lowest cost) and effective (world class customer service) movement of stock from receipt at the warehouse to receipt by the company’s various stores and Wholesale customers
Expert management of information, storage, warehouse support services, reverse flow of stock are also key drivers of successful customer service
Management of all warehouse departments
Prepare and monitor the implementation of annual budget and expense control (Financial Year to end February)
Close monitoring of resources (e.g. staff numbers, transport cost, equipment usage and packaging)
Drive continuous improvement of KPI’s
Protection and maintenance of company assets
Stock control (this includes inter alia storage, space management, forklift teams, daily stock counts, shrinkage, and bulk accuracy)
Facilities management (this includes inter alia, security, housekeeping, ad hoc build works and site maintenance)
Health and Safety
Project Management
Management and accountability of the key warehouse departments (Receiving, Centre Court, Stock Control and Dispatch)
Attend to any cross divisional issues as required
Administration of HR and warehouse documentation
Any other duties assigned by the Managing Director
Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
Own vehicle and valid drivers license
Non-smoker
English speaking
Additional African languages (highly beneficial)
Must have proven logistics skills
At least 10 years’ experience in a similar work environment
HR, leadership and people management skills are crucial
LEAN qualifications and experience in a similar environment
Matric or relevant qualification(s) required for the position
Preferably a relevant university degree
5 – 10 years Managerial experience
Experience in our type of environment (Wholesale Distribution Centre measuring 16 000 sq. m, 7 000 non- food products, 13 000 pallets, 250 plus staff)
A good understanding of receiving, dispatch, pick, pack, invoicing, storage, stock rotation, packaging, customer service, labour (i.e. Logistics)

Knowledge of disciplinary procedures
Computer Literacy:
Must have strong business-oriented PC capabilities
MS office Suite (particular strength in the use of MS Excel)
