The General Assistants are responsible for safely moving inventory and materials within facilities using equipment such as trolleys, ladders, ramps, goods lifts, and scissors lifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparing stock for dispatch or delivery by carefully wrapping it with packaging material and labeling it correctly.
• Packing stock together with other items in the outbound bay according to order specifications.
• Repackaging items as directed and labeling them appropriately.
• Assisting in splitting items and ensuring correct labeling of product and quantity.
• Assisting with other processes when required.
• Acting as a quality controller for received and dispatched products.
• Loading and unloading stock onto trucks, containers, or vehicles as instructed.
• Stacking and organizing large bulk items according to stacking regulations and weight limits.
• Handling and moving stock items to designated areas without causing damage.
• Reporting any damage, missing items, or misuse of items to superiors.
• Maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and proper stacking in work areas and aisles.
• Providing professional and helpful assistance to clients collecting orders.
• Assisting with stock counts, including quarterly/annual counts and perpetual counts.
• Performing any other assigned duties as needed.
• Ensuring the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) daily.
• Wearing the required uniform and safety gear at all times.
• Following housekeeping rules and regulations of the Distribution Centre.
• Collaborating as an active team member to achieve team goals and meet deadlines.
• Handling and loading stock with care.
• Always using trolleys, ladders, and other safety gear appropriately.
• Reporting any faulty equipment to line management.
• Implementing and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Following any other reasonable and lawful instructions provided.
• Ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment, lift boxes and other items.
• Working in confined spaces.
• Working at of heights 5-6 meters.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 2+ years in a warehouse and or logistics environment.
• Knowledge of warehouse systems and procedure.
• Must be efficient, accurate, focused and attention to detail.
• Must have numeracy and literacy skills.
• Fluently speaking and writing in English.
• Self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile.
• Must be a team player.
• Excellent timekeeping.
• Matric Certificate.
