Gavin Hunt explains Lehlohonolo Majoro absence

Lehlohonolo Majoro is yet to play this season since returning from injury, having scored four times in 17 appearances in all competitions last term. Bidvest Wits head coach Gavin Hunt says strong competition is the only thing currently denying Lehlohonolo Majoro a place in his Strikeforce.

Hunt, whose new attacking signings Mxolisi Macuphu, Simon Murray and Gift Motupa all scored in a 3-0 win over AmaZulu last time out, is wary of disrupting his team’s bright start to the campaign.

The Clever Boys are topping the Absa Premiership table with 12 points from five matches.  “Majoro is back training again, he is fine,” Hunt tells KickOff.com.

“He will come into the reckoning. Obviously, there is strong competition, but he is working hard at training like everybody else. He is creating good competition for everyone.

“We don’t have a lot of strikers but we have a few and obviously they are all competing hard to get into the team, and that’s the important thing.

“It’s important obviously you know to have a good strikeforce. In that business end of the field, you need people who can do the job.” Meanwhile, Hunt says he isn’t reading too much into his side’s early-season form.

“It’s a long way to go. The season haven’t really started yet so we’ll see how it goes.” Hunt’s men next visit winless Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday (18h00).
