Furious Neymar blasts VAR in Man Utd defeat

Furious Neymar blasts VAR in Man Utd defeat. The Brazilian was in the stands as PSG threw away a comfortable 2-0 first-leg lead to be knocked out on away goals. It was the first time in European history that a team, which lost the first leg 2-0 at home, still advanced to the next round.

With images showing Neymar appearing to be shell-shocked after Manchester United beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 thanks to a controversial injury-time spot-kick, he later furiously took to social media to slam the penalty call.

Marcus Rashford converted a controversial penalty, which was awarded following a VAR review after a shot by Diogo Dalot hit Presnel Kimpembe’s arm inside the box.

Neymar, though, was furious with the decision and took to Instagram to express his anger in a foul-mouthed rant. “That is a disgrace!” he wrote in his Instagram Story in his native language, as translated into English by the Independent.

“And UEFA still pick four guys who know nothing about football to review the VAR decision in slow motion… that handball simply doesn’t exist! “How do you handball behind your back? Ahh.. go f*ck yourselves.” PSG boss Thomas Tuchel later tried to downplay Neymar’s reaction.

“It’s… a strong reaction. Sometimes after such a fight, you say things you take back later,” the German coach said, as quoted by the Independent.

“You can see how emotional he is, and how much it meant to him. Don’t be too harsh on him. Hard to accept. “It’s quickly typed into a smartphone Don’t be too harsh on him.”

PSG have now been knocked out at the round of 16 stage for a third successive Champions League season, while Manchester United reached the quarter-final for the first time since 2013/14.
