Fuel price relief expected in August

The Automobile Association (AA) is urging motorists to ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition to avoid paying more for fuel consumption.

This comes as minor fuel decreases are expected across the board for August.

The association has been commenting on unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).

According to the data, 95 unleaded petrol is expected to drop by around 14 cents per litre, and 93 unleaded by around nine cents a litre.

Meanwhile, diesel is expected to decrease by around 26 cents a litre.

AA Spokesperson Layton Beard said that fuel remains an integral part of the monthly budgets of South Africans.

“The main drivers behind the decreases are a strengthening Rand/US Dollar exchange rate, and lower international oil prices. The movements in exchange rates contributed most to the trajectory of the fuel prices moving downwards.”
