Working together to fight crime in Cape Town

The City of Cape Town, the provincial government, and the police often differ on the approach to crimefighting in the Western Cape.

But this time, they’ve managed to put these differences aside in a joint operation targeting high-crime areas of Nyanga, Philippi, and Crossroads.

More than 700 staff were involved.

Areas like Nyanga, Philippi East, Crossroads and Marikana remain crime hotspots despite extra resources being deployed here.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says he wants all residents to be safer.

He says the City has a lot to offer police in the fight against crime.
