The Factory Manager is responsible for the general management of all production and maintenance-related aspects of a continuous manufacturing operation. This includes the continuous improvement of all aspects of plant operations including safety, quality, plant availability, yield and productivity.

Main Responsibilities: · Measure, monitor and report on plant performance including operating efficiencies, production yield, plant availability and productivity. Ensure all specified daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance inspections are conducted and to address all shortcomings to prevent failures and downtime.

Work closely with the quality department to ensure product conforms to all minimum standards and opportunities for improvement are implemented. Work closely with the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager to ensure legal compliance and further ensure that all members of the operations team are aware of safety regulations and policies thus providing a safe workplace for all.

Continually analyze work force requirements and coordinate the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel. Prepare annual operating budgets in accordance with company strategy and monitor and control operating expenses in line with budget whilst continually striving to reduce costs without compromise to product quality or performance standards.

Engage with and assist technical and sales personnel to develop new products and applications. Work with supply chain management to ensure all scheduled production planning requirements are met and superior customer service levels are achieved.

Required Competencies: Understanding of budgeting and expense management. Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering. Understanding and enforcement of SHEQ Management systems. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Proven managerial experience – ability to develop, train, motivate and lead a team. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office suite. Business English and fluency in at least one other indigenous language.

Experience and qualifications: At least 10 years’ experience in a continuous manufacturing environment of which at least 5 years has been in a leadership role. Engineering, technical or production management diploma/degree. Computer Literate – MS Office. A commercial qualification will be advantageous. Code 8 Drivers License. Health and Safety certification.
