Europa league round up

Inter Milan was knocked out of the Europa League at the San Siro as Luka Jovic’s first-half goal took Eintracht Frankfurt into the quarter-finals.

The 21-year-old Serbia forward raced clear to lob the ball over Inter keeper Samir Handanovic. Inter, who were without Mauro Icardi, introduced 16-year-old Sebastiano Esposito, as they chased the game.

However, Frankfurt held on to reach their first quarter-final of a major European competition since 1994-95. Luciano Spalletti’s Inter side currently reside in the fourth position in Serie A, with Frankfurt in the fifth position in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, Slavia Prague shocked Sevilla to win 4-3 after extra-time and 6-5 on aggregate in a thrilling contest. Napoli lost 3-1 to RB Salzburg in Austria but held on to progress to the quarter-finals 4-3 on aggregate.

Benfica overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Dinamo Zagreb to advance after 3-1 on aggregate. Substitute Jonas’ goal took the tie into extra-time before further goals from Ferro and Alejandro Grimaldo wrapped up their win.

Goncalo Guedes late goal saw Valencia reach the last eight after a 1-1 draw at FK Krasnodar. Magomed Suleymanov’s 85th-minute goal for the Russian club had looked as though it would take the tie into extra-time.
