EFF calls for contract termination of security companies responsible for municipal-owned Malboro properties

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it has instructed the Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety to terminate the contracts of security companies responsible for the municipal-owned properties in Marlboro, with immediate effect.

This as EFF deputy president, Floyd Shivambu, on Wednesday, told the family of slain EFF ward councillor, Moshe Mphahlele that fighters would ensure justice was served.

Shivambu was addressing a memorial service in honour of the EFF councillor who was caught in the crossfire at the weekend, as police and security attempted to disperse a crowd from illegally occupying the municipal-owned flats in Alexandra.

The EFF deputy president told mourners gathered at the event that he believed the security company was involved in Mphahlele’s killing.

“We must take action because there is something dodgy about the security companies as well, even their employees are hiding their faces. What kind of security hides their face, because it’s supposed to protect us, and here is a security who is supposed to protect us but is hiding their faces, protecting themselves from us.”
