Drivers’ Licence Backlog: MEC Jacob Mamabolo admits there is a problem

Gauteng Transport MEC, Jacob Mamabolo has admitted there is a problem with allocating slots for drivers’ licence renewals.

Motorists across the country are at their wits’ end trying to book online, but no dates are available.

“There is a problem with how officials are handling the booking system and the allocating of slots to people,” he says.

Mamabolo says he will be meeting with municipalities to ensure proper processes are followed.

The drivers’ license renewal system is buckling under the strain of a massive backlog.
