VIDEO: Drunk motorbike driver crashes
Whenever authorities warn us against drinking and driving people to tend to think they are being discouraged from having fun. The consequences of doing such can be fatal. This time around luckily the accident was not fatal. A video of a drunk motorcycle driver who crashes is circulating on social media.
In the video, it can be easily seen that the driver is under influence of alcohol. He cannot keep his bike straight and does not even notice when he hits the first obstacle. The way he carries on like nothing has happened is also evidence that this man is not normal. The second obstacle he meets sends him flying to the ground and witnesses burst into laughter.
The man taking the video had noticed that this driver was not normal. Fortunately for the driver, he did not collide with oncoming traffic, or else things would have ended in a tragic way. According to research done by the University of South Africa in collaboration with the RMTC in 2020, drunk driving accounts for approximately 27 percent of fatal crashes.

Drunk driving is one of the biggest threats to Road safety in Mzansi. Another shocking statistic is that half of the people who die on the roads have blood alcohol concentration above the limit. It is better and safer to arrive alive than crush whilst having fine and die.
Summary of legislation on drunk driving
No person shall on a public road –
(a) drive a vehicle; or
(b) occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle the engine of which is running, while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a drug having a narcotic effect.
Blood alcohol contents limits
A concentration of alcohol in blood: 0,05 gram per 100 millilitres (all drivers), professional drivers: 0,02 gram per 100 millilitres.
Breath alcohol content: 0,24 milligrams per 1000 millilitres (all drivers), professional drivers: 0,10 milligrams per 1000 millilitres.Any person detained for an alleged contravention of any provision of this section shall not –
(b) during his or her detention smoke until the specimen has been taken, as the case may be.
No person shall refuse that a specimen of blood, or a specimen of breath, be taken of him or her.
